MC Prussian Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 According to some rumours, Leicester City have let the Birch go due to financial reasons. Could any of the more profound connaisseurs shed more light on this and the current financial state of the club? It'd also be interesting to find out what the connection is to the Pearson rumour - could it be that Mandy's got to save money the hard way?
Collymore Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 The birch annoys the hell out if me, but there is no doubt he means well and if this is true, it's not nice to see anyone lose their job.
Craig Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 If we're so skint that we're having to let Birch go, why haven't we let Deej go to Blackpool even if it means letting him go for a small fee just to get him off of the wage bill?
buzzy Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 it's about time milan f**k off as well we could save more money doing this.bring back the birch
Babylon Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 it's about time milan f**k off as well we could save more money doing this.bring back the birch We'd save more money by getting rid of the person currently writing the cheques? What planet.... Anyway, Stringer spoke to him and he's still employed by the club.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 I'm sure Birch would actually do it for free if thats what it came down to.
Daggers Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 There's another story which isn't all about cutting wage bills.
Webbo Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 I think there's a moan in tonight, we'll surely find out then.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 Birch has been around the game for forty years and knows football, and this club more than most. Why not offer him the Manager's job? Steve Walsh would be a good candidate too. Neither have Managerial experience, granted, but they do love the club.

If loving the club is the criteria they can join the queue of 15000 regulars and take their chances

To be fair mate, i love Leicester city more than my own parents, but that dont make me no good manager, i have to cheat on FM. Dont think it works in love-ness.
Jimmy Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 Birch's main job is helping new players settle into life in the city and club
dave the caveman Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 Birch's main job is helping new players settle into life in the city and club Hmmm. Fair enough I suppose. I was about to post asking why we were actually paying for the cringeworthy town cryer in the first place, but i suppose if he does do more than just make embarrasing, patronising attempts to 'lift the fans' on matchdays then it might be worth keeping him afterall.
marbelladave Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 Birch's main job is helping new players settle into life in the city and club So if we are letting him go, does that mean we are not getting any new players....ever?
albur64 Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 He was told tonight that he had lost his job 75k a year
Ashley Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 He was told tonight that he had lost his job 75k a year True...............We must have the same contacts, ......
albur64 Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 Graham Taylor was also at the Walkers Saturday as well
Guest Mee-9 Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 So we've lost the Birch then? If so this football club is falling to peices!
carterfox90 Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 i was always under the impression the birch did his job for free he's mr leicester city & really would be missed got to admit i do like the bloke what the hell is going on at our club is it back to the bad old days
Mee Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 Birch always seemed inspiring at the games. As corny as it was, he shouldn't go.
Yojoe36 Posted 28 June 2010 Posted 28 June 2010 Our club is inploding, sigh, hello Kettering town :'(
